Welcome to GregRea.com
Greg Rea is a 14 year old downhill mountain bike racer and all around ripper. Greg is a multi-disciplined rider who has a childhood background on the BMX tracks of Northern Nevada and California. Greg also races mountaincross, dual slalom and Super D and is an accomplished dirt jumper and park rider as well.
Greg, affectionately known as “G2,” was introduced to the sport of mountain biking by his dad, Greg Senior, who is also an accomplished downhill racer and mountain bike enthusiast. G2 rode the treacherous trails of Northstar at seven years old on an entry level 20” bike, which was quickly modified by his dad and became his childhood downhill steed. Greg has ridden and raced every year since then and has expanded his skill set by riding any bike on dirt.
Greg has raced and podiumed at several race events including Northstar, Sea Otter, Bootleg Canyon, Oregon and recently the Nationals at Sol Vista, CO.
In January of 2009 Greg was selected to be the first Junior gravity racer on the Northstar/Giant racing team, led by regional downhill racing legend Jon Wilson, a Collegiate DH National champion. The exposure and coaching provided by the Northstar crew has led Greg to develop as a force in the Junior Expert category this year.
Greg displays a unique focus, drive and work ethic that is peculiar amongst his peers. He maintains a “ride something every day” philosophy to develop his skills and fitness. Greg also is an accomplished running back and linebacker and has been a part of the elite McQueen youth football program for several years. According to Greg, football simply adds to his bag of skills for mountain biking and develops teamwork, discipline and a high level of physical conditioning.
Greg demonstrates a passion for the sport and enjoys taking time to assist and inspire younger riders. He also enjoys the training and riding opportunities offered by living in the Reno/Tahoe area, as well as a family who are avid supporters of the sport.
Greg hopes to become a World Cup level rider and would dream of representing The United States of America in the Olympics as a downhill racer.
